2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV: what we can expect from the all-electric SUV
September 25 2023,
The automotive world is abuzz for the upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, an SUV that promises to redefine customer choice, performance and design. With the arrival of this vehicle, Chevrolet is seeking to establish itself in the growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
Range and versions
Chevrolet wants to offer a wide range of choices to consumers. The lineup includes distinct trims: 1LT, 2LT, RS, and a first-ever SS electric performance model. Each version offers a different experience in terms of range and driving dynamics, with front, rear or all-wheel drive options.
Autonomy and performance
The Blazer EV's impressive range is perhaps one of the details that attracts the most attention. With a GM-estimated range of 515 km on a full charge for the RS RWD variant, it addresses one of the main concerns consumers have when considering purchasing an electric vehicle: range. Additionally, the SS model promises performance-oriented driving with up to 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. GM estimates the 0-60 mph acceleration time to be less than 4 seconds for the SS, underscoring its sporty capabilities.
Charging and infrastructure
On the technical side, the Blazer EV offers a Level 2 (AC) charging capacity of 11.5 kW and a public DC fast charging capacity of up to 190 kW, depending on the model and local charging infrastructure. Fast charging helps increase range by approximately 75 miles in just 10 minutes, according to GM estimates for the RS RWD model.
Interior and technology
The interior is dominated by a large, intuitive 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen. Standard on all models, the exterior lighting is entirely LED with choreographed step up/down animations for the RS and SS versions. Additionally, the cabin uses sustainably manufactured soft-touch materials, contributing to a premium feel. Advanced safety features such as reverse automatic braking and advanced park assist are available on select models.
As for driver assistance, Super Cruise hands-free driving technology is available on some models. This technology suite provides hands-free driving on divided highways and compatible highways.
Design highlights
Chevrolet didn't skimp on the design elements either. The Blazer EV maintains its athletic look, drawing inspiration from Chevrolet's famous Camaro and Corvette models. The design varies from version to version, with the LT equipped with 19-inch wheels as standard, while the RS and SS versions become progressively sportier and more aggressive.
Underlying platform
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is built on GM's Ultium platform, a modular architecture designed for electric vehicles. This platform enables over-the-air updates via Ultifi, GM's new end-to-end software platform, providing the possibility of future updates and customizations.
In summary, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV appears poised to set new standards in the electric SUV category, offering a blend of range, performance and design that promises to make it a compelling option in an increasingly competitive.
