We’re Driving The 2021 GMC Yukon AT4 – What do you want to know?
October 15 2020, Gm Authority
Earlier this month, GM Authority got behind the wheel of the 2021 GMC Yukon, Big Red's completely redesigned full-size SUV. Built on the GM T1 platform shared with General Motors' full-size pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra and featuring a new independent rear suspension, the Yukon offers improved ride quality and improved handling characteristics. The model they have driven is the rugged Yukon AT4.
Their 2021 GMC Yukon AT4 tester is equipped with the 5.3L V8 engine (part of the EcoTec3 engine family) which features automatic engine start / stop and dynamic fuel management to save fuel. It's handled by the 10-speed automatic transmission, which sends the V8's 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels.
It also includes the AT4 Premium Plus Package which complements the functionality of various individual Option Packages, such as the Premium Capacity Package with 4WD Active Response System, Max Trailering Package, Technology Package and Rear Support Package and navigation system, as well as a power panoramic sunroof, power-retractable assist steps, a power-operated sliding front center console and power-actuated second-row bucket seats.
All of this means that this particular AT4 is equipped with the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Magnetic Ride Control Suspension System, HD Surround Vision Camera System, and all the hardware and software needed to tow safely and easily. The platform allows for a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds (8,400 pounds in 2WD models).
We also get the GMC's Active Response 4WD system which incorporates the AutoTrac two-speed transfer case, Traction Select drive mode control, StabiliTrak as well as an eLSD to optimize traction.
The 2021 GMC Yukon AT4 that GM Authority drives is painted Summit White, the only free color in the SUV's ten-color palette. The interior is dressed in jet black, with perforated leather upholstery and contrasting brown stitching.
The base price of the 2021 GMC Yukon is set at $ 51,995, which includes freight to destination, while an optional Yukon XL Denali rises above $ 86,345 before digging through the accessories catalog. Our AT4 rings at $ 75,960 with options.
