2023 Chevrolet Colorado: A Tour de Force
August 16 2022,
Eight years after presenting us with a Chevrolet Colorado that redefined the standards in the midsize pickup segment, Chevrolet returns with an even more interesting new generation, ready to lead the way once again by offering more and more to enthusiasts.
In fact, when you take a look at the range of the new Colorado 2023, you can only be amazed; what Chevrolet offers us is impressive.
Without further ado, let's see how the model will look when it hits the market.
Versions
Let's start with the versions, because there are many to get your teeth into. From the outset, we will find two more basic variants, the WT and LT models. In their case, they are going to enjoy a regular chassis setup. They will also inherit the base engine, the 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque version of the 2.7-litre turbo 4-cylinder that will serve all models.
It will be possible to choose the variant offering 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, by the way. The difference, beyond the numbers, is that the second can tow 7700 pounds rather than 3500 pounds (6000 with the ZR2 model). An eight-speed automatic transmission is featured throughout.
Thereafter, we will find the Z71 and Trail Boss models. Automatically, the latter receive the 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque version of the 4-cylinder. They also see their suspension raised by 2 inches. Aesthetically, they will also carry distinct signatures, so they will be easy to recognize and identify on the road.
Finally, we will rediscover the ZR2 version at the top of the hierarchy. Boasting a 3” raised chassis, Multimatic shocks, skid plates and differentials that can be locked, the ultimate off-road machine is back. Its angle of attack, at 38.3 degrees, speaks for itself. Even better, a Desert Boss version, even better able to climb anything impassable, will also be offered.
Styling and bodywork
Throughout the range, it will be easy to recognize the versions as each one will carry its own signature. As for the styling in general, it is modeled on that of the larger Silverado, which adds to the strength of the model's image.
As for the cab and box configurations, it's pretty straightforward as only the Crew Cab and Short Box have been retained for 2023. That's the model you were unanimously asking for, anyway.
Inside, we expect an enhanced and more refined presentation compared to the current model. The fact that we're served an 11.3-inch screen across the lineup for the infotainment system, as well as an 8.0-inch screen in the instrument cluster says a lot about Chevrolet's efforts.
The 2023 Colorado will be built starting in January 2023, which assures us of a spring arrival soon after.
