2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV: Heavyweight
July 22 2022,
Chevrolet announced to us last January that it was going to offer an electric version of its Blazer SUV. The latter was presented last July on the side of Los Angeles and the least we can say is that the company has not been idle.
What she has just presented to us, as the expression goes, is high caliber.
Here is why in a few points.
A spectacular design
Admit it, glancing at this Blazer took you two seconds to catch your breath. Everything about his lines is up for discussion. One of the factors that will promote the transition to electric vehicles is our ability to offer them models that they will find attractive. The first round was won with this Blazer EV.
Ultium
The word Ultium is going to become very common over the next few months. It is used to designate the platform for electric vehicles from General Motors. It already serves the Cadillac Lyriq and will be used for the majority of vehicles that will see the light of day. What is incredible with this structure is the modularity. To give you the best idea, let's just mention that the Blazer can be delivered in a rear-wheel drive configuration, but also with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Yes, all options will be on the table.
It is very impressive
Four models
We will be entitled to four versions of the Blazer EV, namely 1LT, 2LT, RS and SS. For the moment, only the last two can provide us with some information. For example, we know that the RS model will be the best in terms of autonomy with 515 kilometers (drive version). As for power, it will be the SS variant that will deliver the goods with 564 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the all-wheel drive, we will be able to reach 97 km/h in less than 4 seconds with it.
What we do know about each, however, is the price that will be charged in Quebec. In order, we are talking about invoices of $54,548, $59,148, $63,848, then $83,548.
Charging
Chevrolet also shared some charging information. With a rear-wheel-drive RS model, it will be possible to regain 125 kilometers in 10 minutes using a level 3 terminal. Note that the maximum power for charging operations will be 190 kW. At home, with a level 2 terminal, the capacity will be a maximum of 11 kW.
Luxury ?
Without being a luxury vehicle, the conveniences will not be lacking on board the Blazer EV. Connectivity will be optimal with the latest technologies and everything will take shape, with each model, on a 17.7-inch touch screen in the center console. All Blazer EVs will also benefit from heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
Moving up the lineup, the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will be available, as will heated rear seats (optional with RS, standard with SS). RS and SS models will get ventilated front seats.
In short, we will not lose with the Blazer EV, especially since different groups and modes of propulsion will be on the menu across the range.
It really promises.
