Chevrolet announces next-generation Bolt with advanced technologies
August 30 2023,
In a recent update, GM President and CEO Mary Barra confirmed Chevrolet's plans to introduce a next-generation Bolt. The announcement, made during the company's quarterly earnings conference call, underscores GM's intention to maintain the Bolt's reputation for affordability, autonomy and advanced technology.
The current model of the Bolt has been a great success for Chevrolet, with record sales and high customer satisfaction and loyalty scores. “Our customers love today's Bolt,” remarked Ms. Barra, noting its role as a key vehicle attracting buyers from other brands, which is reflected in its impressive conquest sales.
To further enhance the Bolt's value proposition, GM plans to integrate Ultium and Ultifi technologies. This strategic move is expected to enable a faster and more cost-effective deployment of the next-generation Bolt compared to launching an entirely new program from scratch.
Since its debut in 2017, the Chevrolet Bolt has set a precedent as the first mass-produced electric vehicle offering long-range capabilities at an accessible price. With sales of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV in the first half of 2023 being the strongest yet, the vehicle continues to attract more than 70% of its buyers from non-GM brands.
Although specific details and a launch timeline for the next-generation Bolt have not been disclosed, it is evident that the vehicle will complement Chevrolet's expanding all-electric lineup, which also includes upcoming models such as the Blazer EV, the Equinox EV and the Silverado EV.
