Chevrolet Bolt EUV 2022: The Chevrolet Bolt EV is no longer alone
February 18 2021,
Chevrolet made two major announcements at the start of February, the expected update of the Bolt EV for 2022, as well as the arrival of a larger variant of the model, the Bolt EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle). 2022.
In the case of the latter, there is a lot to chew on. Here's what he has in store for us.
Same autonomy
Within a few kilometers (15 less), the Bolt EUV 2022 will give us the same kind of range as the Bolt EV, at 402 kilometers. The rest of the architecture is the same - a 65kW lithium-ion battery, an electric motor that delivers 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, as well as quick, crisp acceleration.
What's very interesting is that the Bolt EUV will come standard with a two-level cord. This will allow the traditional connection to a 120 volt outlet, but also to a 240 volt outlet. What this means is that there will be no need to have a level 2 charger installed at home. The recharge force is at 7.2 kW, but for those who want more, it will be possible to modify the system to increase the power to 11 kW.
As for fast charging with a level 3 terminal, the system can find 154 kilometers in just 30 minutes. And to find a charging station, nothing is easier with the MyChevrolet app, which allows you to identify 10,000 stations located across Canada.
Same technology
Technologically speaking, the Bolt EUV will offer us the same features as the Bolt EV, but with a few additional elements offered as standard or as an option. For example, with the Premier trim level, the Bolt EUV will be the first Chevrolet vehicle to take advantage of the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system that first saw the light with the Cadillac CT6 a few years ago.
Wireless charging for cellular devices also comes standard with this model while it is optional with the Bolt EV. As for the wireless connection of the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps, this is an option in both cases.
Same interior
On board, the two models share their components, but the Bolt EUV offers a little more, like a panoramic sunroof. Front seats and heated steering wheel are also standard, while it is possible to opt for ventilated front seats and heated rear seats with some versions.
The presentation is the same. It features a 10.2-inch touchscreen in the center console, as well as an 8-inch one in front of the driver. The latter, configurable at will, informs the latter of the details surrounding the driving of the vehicle. On the center console, we notice the presence of a gear selector which offers buttons and levers, all for a very refined presentation. Then, of course, at the rear, you get more legroom thanks to the model's elongated configuration.
Not the same body
Where the difference is most noticeable between the two vehicles is on the outside. Although the two models have similar styles, they do not share any body panels. The Bolt EUV has a more pronounced presence, notably with a more massive muzzle and a distinct signature at the height of the lighting. It can also be distinguished by its roof rails. In all, the Bolt EUV is 6 inches longer compared to the Bolt EV.
Both models, which are proving very interesting, are expected in dealerships next summer.
