Chevrolet Trailblazer Fuel Economy: A Well-Kept Secret
March 15 2022,
Most SUVs, it is known, consume more fuel than cars. However, there are exceptions in the market and the Chevrolet Trailblazer is one of them. In fact, the excellent fuel ratings it offers are one of the best kept secrets in the industry.
With the price of a liter of gasoline soaring, it is high time to reveal them.
In fact, it's time to talk about the mechanics and their performance.
3-cylinder
The Trailblazer's secret is its 3-cylinder engines. Yes, motors in the plural, because there are two of them. Everyone benefits from a turbo and is very frugal.
In the first case, we're talking about a 1.2-liter block that offers 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a continuously variable transmission, it offers a front-drive configuration and ratings of 8.0 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.6 liters on the highway, all for a combined 7.8 liters.
With the 1.3 liter engine and traction on the front wheels, the averages are even better; 8.0, 7.2 and 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers, in order. All with more power, 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
We're doing admirably well.
And when you choose to go with the all-wheel-drive version, which takes advantage of the 1.3-liter engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission rather than a CVT, you also get very interesting results; 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.8 liters on the highway and 8.4 liters on average.
In all respects, we are doing very well at the pump, in addition to enjoying a vehicle that is pleasant to drive, spacious and very trendy.
Come see us at the dealership to try it out; you will in turn be seduced by the Chevrolet Trailblazer.
