GMC Sierra 2022: in the major leagues
October 22 2021,
The GMC Sierra is a leading player in its segment, but over the past few years it has continued to improve, so much so that it has become a staple. For 2022, three years after the start of the current generation, it returns with major transformations, like its cousin, the Chevrolet Silverado.
Incidentally, both models are expected in the first quarter of 2022.
Until then, let's see what the revised 2022 GMC Sierra has in store. As you will see, the changes matter.

Until then, let's see what the revised 2022 GMC Sierra has in store. As you will see, the changes matter.
Two versions added
It’s not one, but two releases that add to the family for the New Year.
First, we will find the Denali Ultimate. The goal here is to offer more luxury than ever, all in a richer environment than ever. Thus, within this variation, we will enjoy very upscale materials such as ultra-suede, high quality leathers and woodwork, among others. The front seats will even offer the massage. The design of the dashboard will be distinct, too. The Denali Ultimate version will drag you along onions.
Second, we can take advantage of the AT4X livery. Assembled from the AT4 version, it will offer more in terms of off-road skills, like the ZR2 version which will also see the light of day with the Silverado at Chevrolet. On the menu, a suspension offering greater travel, Multimatic shocks that do an extraordinary job of adapting to the type of terrain they are on, driving modes for off-road tours, as well as e-locking technology. for locking the differentials.
We can't wait to get behind the wheel.
Super Cruise
In addition to all the luxury it will offer, the Denali Ultimate variant will offer as standard the Super Cruise semi-autonomous system that was born at Cadillac. It can serve its owner on some 320,000 km of highways in Canada and the United States. Better still, the new generation of the system offers autonomous overruns. It can even be used with a load hitched at the rear. These last two functions cannot be used at the same time, however.
Revised mechanics?
The GMC Sierra will always be served by the same engines, but two of them present themselves more competent.
First, the 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder has benefited from several modifications, so much so that we are talking about a new block. Incidentally, its torque jumped from 348 to 420 lb-ft of torque; smoother performance is therefore expected, with or without a trailer behind.
Then, the Diesel engine (Duramax 3-liter turbo 6-cylinder) is now added to versions that enjoy improvements to the height of the chassis. These allow the addition of the Max towing package. The result ? Maximum towing capacity gains 4000 pounds to 13,200. Impressive.
The screens
What will jump in the eye when you board a 2022 GMC Sierra are the screens that will be at our disposal. The multimedia system, on all versions except the Pro, will come to life on a 13.4-inch unit. It will even offer an interface compatible with Google, all for greater harmonization with the other tools that we use on a daily basis.
With several higher-end versions, the instrument cluster will adopt a digital display and customizable functions, all on a 12.3-inch background.
Then, for models taking advantage of the head-up display, it's a 15-inch space that will relay information to the windshield.
As you can see, there's a lot to chew on with the 2022 GMC Sierra. We'll have a chance to get back to it before it arrives.
