Super Cruise will be added to two GMC models, one Chevrolet model
July 30 2021,
GM had great news to share regarding the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system developed by Cadillac. This will be added to several models of the group from the beginning of 2022, including two GMC products and one from Chevrolet.
In all three cases, pick-ups will take advantage of it; the new Hummer EV and the Sierra at GMC, as does the Silverado cousin at Chevrolet.
The Super Cruise version that will spoil these vehicles takes advantage of new functions like automatic lane change and the ability to be able to be used with a trailer, which will be very convenient for the named products.
What is amazing about lane changes is that the system is able to do everything on its own. He assesses the distance to the vehicle in front of us and if he judges that a lane change is prescribed, he checks whether the maneuver can be carried out. And because the Super Cruise system knows the route ahead thanks to its knowledge of 320,000 km of freeways (Canada and United States), it will not execute if the situation does not allow it in front of the vehicle to be overtaken.
The new version of Super Cruise also allows operation with a hitch behind. However, the automatic lane change function is not possible with a trailer in the rear.
It will come, eventually. Moreover, the system can receive any update via the airwaves and in collaboration with Google Maps, it offers enhanced navigation which allows us to know on which roads the function can be activated.
GM hopes that one day 95% of the roads can be used with the Super Cruise system. In 2023, 22 family vehicles will be equipped with it.
