The all-new 2024 GMC Acadia: a benchmark in innovation for high-end SUVs
September 15 2023,
The automotive landscape is changing again with the unveiling of the 2024 GMC Acadia at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Renowned for being the benchmark for premium mid-size SUVs, this latest model features significant advances in size, technology and capabilities.
Dimensional growth
The first of the improvements concerns the size of the vehicle. The new Acadia benefits from growth in all physical dimensions, with a 10.6-inch longer wheelbase and 3.2-inch higher height than its predecessor. The consequences are generous: more legroom in the front and 80% more cargo space behind the third row. Depending on the version, seven or eight people can sit comfortably, making it a more versatile option for large families or those who simply need space.
Under the hood
Powered by a new 2.5L turbocharged engine, the Acadia has more than just a block: it packs a punch. This new engine develops 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it provides active torque-controlled all-wheel drive, particularly on the Acadia AT4, the most rugged model. For towing purposes, the SUV maintains a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
Technological advances
In an era where technology and cars are increasingly in sync, the 2024 Acadia does not disappoint. It introduces a 15-inch diagonal portrait-oriented infotainment system that is standard across all trims. Additionally, Acadia is the fifth GMC vehicle to offer Super Cruise, an advanced hands-free driver assistance system, which is now available on more than 400,000 miles of roads in the United States and Canada.
Off-road and luxury features
The Acadia AT4 version brings advanced off-road technologies, including a one-inch higher ride height and an off-road-tuned suspension. In contrast, the Acadia Denali offers one-touch folding second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, and up to 16 speakers for an immersive audio experience.
Security
Not to be outdone when it comes to safety, the 2024 Acadia is well-equipped with an array of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies, such as forward collision warning, steering assist in blind zones and rear pedestrian detection, to name just a few.
Availability
Production of the next-generation 2024 GMC Acadia is planned at GM's Lansing Delta Assembly plant in Michigan, with availability expected in early 2024. Pricing will remain confidential until production approaches.
With this new launch, GMC reiterates its commitment to combining size, technological innovation and advanced features, setting the stage for the rest of its SUV lineup.
