The mechanics of the new Chevrolet Trailblazer
August 29 2020,
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is the new darling of the General Motors family. It comes in eye-catching style and comes in seven different versions when you factor in the possible traction configurations.
It is also served with two distinct mechanics. Let's take a look at these.
First, there is a 1.2-liter ECOTEC turbo 3-cylinder. The latter comes with two variants, the front-wheel drive LS and LT models. It is also the only engine that can work in a front-wheel drive model. Its output is 137 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, while its torque is 162 pound-feet at 2,500 rpm. It is only associated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Next is the 1.3-liter ECOTEC turbo 3-cylinder. The latter delivers a bit more power with a capacity of 155 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, as well as 174 pound-feet of torque from 1,600 rpm. This mechanism is present with the four all-wheel drive versions of the model, namely the LS, LT, Activ and RS trim levels. Along with the latter, it is also associated with an electronically controlled nine-speed automatic transmission.
There is one exception in the lineup for this engine. In fact, it can be optionally delivered with the front-wheel drive LT variant. However, with it, it retains the CVT box, exclusive to this drive configuration.
In closing, for consumption, we obtain city ratings of 8.9 and 8.4 liters per 100 kilometers for the 1.3 and 1.2-liter engines, respectively. When you jump onto the highway, the averages are 7.8 and 7.5 liters, always in the same order.
