The new GMC Yukon 2021 and Yukon XL receive an AT4 off-road version and a diesel engine

-The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are new for 2021 and add the AT4 off-road version that GMC has deployed in its range.

-The all-new Yukon now offers an optional turbodiesel engine, and although the available V-8 gasoline engines are mostly postponed from 2020, they feature improved cylinder deactivation technology.

-GMC's Yukon now has independent rear suspension, which lowers the floor and increases the third row and cargo space.

Now that GM has completely unveiled the all-new Chevrolet Tahoe 2021 and Suburban 2021, it will focus on the new generation GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2021.

Mechanically, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2021 will be identical to the Tahoe and Suburban 2021. The biggest change under the skin will be the transition from the platform used by the current Yukon since 2015 to the brand new platform from GM. Body-on-chassis architecture was first introduced on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and 2019 GMC Sierra pickups, but it will receive several notable changes for SUVs. One of these changes is the introduction of an independent rear suspension, shared with its twin Chevy, the AT4 version focused on the all-terrain makes its appearance on the redesigned Yukon 2021. The AT4 is a popular option, with up to 20% of GMC Sierra buyers opting for the version. The Denali is also greatly improved, with more care and emphasis on the interior than in the past Denalis.

Before delving into the specifics of the versions, let's start with the basics. All Yukons come standard with GM's 5.3-liter V8 developing 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to a new available four-wheel drive system.

Enhanced engine options include a 6.2-liter V8 developing 420 horsepower and 480 lb-ft. If gas isn't your problem, GM's new 3.0-liter in-line diesel engine is also available, good for 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Considering how impressive it is in the half-ton pickup, the new diesel could be a convincing option in this large family carrier.

Camera technology is also coming out of vans, with a total of 9 camera views available which should make towing easier. For those planning to venture off-road, the class-exclusive Air Ride adaptive suspension available on the AT4 and Denali can lift the Yukon two inches to clear obstacles. There is even an electric sliding center console available.

Interior space is greatly improved with a 5-inch longer wheelbase and 6.1-inch increase in overall length (for standard Yukon). Cargo volume in the Yukon inventory is up 66% from the third row, while rear seat legroom is up 41%.

The AT4 continues the tradition of the other GMC models by improving the Yukon's off-road prowess, by offering a 2-speed transfer case, 20-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, an off-road mode for the traction, hill descent control, skid plates, a special mark on its heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Denali models receive special interior treatment that takes advantage of some of the finest cabin material from a Denali to date. GMC calls it "Denali par excellence", which hopefully means that this treatment will find its place in other models.

There are four different color themes for Denali, and each one combines the palate with authentic wood trim and hand-stitched and cut leather surfaces. The 10-inch infotainment touch screen in all versions of the Yukon, with the technical features of the Denali.

Denali obtains the group's highest definition 360-degree camera system, which comes with a 15-inch multicolored head-up display. The highest Yukon is also equipped with Magnetic Ride Control as standard. If buyers want more "look", they can opt for 22-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, the aforementioned adaptive air suspension.

The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 2021 will go on sale this summer. Pricing and additional details will be published closer to launch.

So this summer, come to Automont to come and try out the many features and all the other technological wonders of the GMC Yukon 2021. A test drive and an interview with our experienced staff will help you choose the truck that's right for you.
